|Lorisnail brought to "life!"|
"God has created such union and harmony between man and wife that no one can conceive in this world a greater plane of union. You must irrigate continually the tree of your union with the water of love and affection, so that it may remain green and verdant throughout all the seasons…"
I made this for my final project for the Wilmett Institute online Baha'i course "Becoming a Couple." I wanted my project to show the beauty that can blossom from a truly harmonious marriage.
I chose magnolia flowers because they are a symbol of eternal fidelity. The outline of the clasped hands (made with the branches) was based on a photo I took of my hand in my boyfriend's.
The original piece is 24 in. by 18 in. and done in colored pencils, chalk and oil pastels.

Personal Quote: "This is me and this is you."
My work is inspired by by the true strangeness of nature. I draw on myths from around the world to capture the delight of the unusual and unexpected. I love taking something everyday and making it fantastical.
When I’m not making strange little creatures, I work as a freelance illustrator. I graduated from San Francisco State University with a BA in Fine Art. I currently live on the coast in California.
