A very warm one! Last week I went up to Inverness (and beyond) to meet up with
and exchange our art dolls in person. (My half: The Snail Bird fav.me/d67b2yg | Magweno's half: fav.me/d68zhc9
which is unutterably fabulous in person - pic to come.) It was the first time I've ever met up with anyone from deviantArt and I was a little nervous. But it turned out to be the best thing about my entire trip to Scotland!
was so kind! She welcomed me and my family into her lovely home, introduced me to her menagerie, gave us home-made florentines, and took us on a lovely walk to the beach. The natural beauty of that place is so inspiring! It was downright magical. We saw dolphins and a young crow (it was a crow, right, Maddy?). I also saw with my own eyes her gorgeous dog, Rouko, suckle on his blanket! Very odd but sooo adorable.
She let me hold her beautiful snakes and all the while the sweet birdsong from her aviary graced our ears. I met her boyfriend, Rob, and her open-hearted mother. I have never felt so welcome in a "stranger's" home.
Perhaps the most amazing part, though, was her studio and how generously she answered all my questions. What a fantastic work space! I'm so jealous! It was thrilling to see Scuttle fav.me/d3fskuv
and the Scottish Kelpie fav.me/d390vww
up close. I even held Lammergeier fav.me/d2nmt99
in my hands!
It was deliriously awesome. In fact, I think I had a fever for a part of the time.
Now I'm back home and savoring the memories. And trying to catch up on sleep.
