Kirin Giraffe blue and teal by FamiliarOddlings Kirin Giraffe blue and teal by FamiliarOddlings
Another version of this guy:

New style horn, longer neck, and of course new colors! :D I dyed the blue, teal, and pink myself. I really like how this one turned out. Stay tuned for another kirin coming up soon!

Needle felted wool over pipe cleaners to allow creative posing. Eyes, hooves, and horn are made from painted paper clay and glued and wired in place.

This kirin stands at about 8 inches with a length of about five inches.

For sale in my etsy shop: [link]

I missed this one coming through my messages weeks ago it looks like. I really love this one sooo much. His colours are absolutely beautiful and very peaceful. The face of this one seems (while still very cute) particularly elegant as well. He seems more mature to me. I really like how that swirling horn turned out and the intelligent looking eye. I also love the fuzzy mane. I have recently began sculpting a LOT again and am experimenting with a ton of different molding compounds. I really need to try this paper clay you are always using because it sounds very appealing.:blackrose:

I love it! I know how tough it is to dye your own wool and you did such a great job felting the long skinny legs. Anyway he is gorgeous!

Woooww, so graceful and willowy! Man, I think I may have to look into this pipe cleaner thing, they yield really nice results.

Thank you!!! :boogie: Praise from you makes me giddy! :D The pipe cleaner thing is almost a cheap trick, it's so easy. Try it and see!

I love these so much. Do you do art trades? Because I would knit like... I don't even know what I would knit in exchange for a gorgeous felted kirin.

Oh wow, no one has ever offered to do a trade like this with me before! :D I think that would be cool but I don't know how to go about it...

Lol, this is my first art trade too. I guess we just discuss what we want and then trade addresses and send it.
I knit, crochet (a tiny bit), have just started felting, and paint and draw (gouache, acrylic, colored pencil, marker, graphite, and charcoal). I don't have a lot of my art on dA mostly because I don't have a scanner (and I'm lazy).

Get back to me about what sounds good?

Haha, okay, let's do this thing. :D

Um... Well, I think your squid hats are awesome! Is that do-able? I'm sensitive to wool though (haha, yes, I work with it all day, but I don't let it touch my neck or anywhere above my wrists). What do you think?
