Loving my mother's face

I painted this for my mother's birthday. She says her birth-flower is the sweet pea. I wanted to show her my love and the happiness I feel whenever I think of her.

This flower is hard to paint! I just can't get the right color with my traditional paints. The background was probably the funnest part to do. It's somewhat inspired/informed by *puimun, who is kind enough to show us her in-progress pieces. I've never used watercolors on bristol board before--it's nice!


Materials: watercolors on 9x12 in. bristol board.
