Another kirin! I made this one a while back, but I was delaying posting it for... I dunno, element of surprise? Who knows why I do things.
The design credit goes to =ShePaintsWithBlood!!! She suggested a blue kirin with a yellow star pattern, so adorable! It was really hard to make the stars, though, so I don't know how often I'd be willing to do this. However, I love the way he turned out! I hope you do too!
Especially you, WithBlood! ---
Needle felted wool over pipe cleaners to allow creative posing. Eyes, hooves, and horn are made from painted paper clay and glued and wired in place.
This kirin stands at about 8 inches with a length of about five inches.
Thank you, again! You're such a good commenter. I'm really pleased with how the stars came out, I was worried they would look wonky or unidentifiable because it's impossible to make the lines completely straight.
Oh my gosh!! I was just thinking about this one again last night! I mean, I was thinking of the idea of it. I really like this sooo much and the stars look perfect. I love how they puff out softly from the rest of the design. I like that you left the belly that natural pink too. The fuzzy mane is wonderful as always and that cute face. This one is my favourite, favourite for sure. I just want to hug and hug it. Beautiful job! You did so well on this!
I'm so happy you like it, Aria! Thank you, for the lovely comment and the suggestion! It was such a lovely concept for a design and it was interesting and challenging to do. I was thinking of listing this on Etsy, but then I thought you might want a chance at purchasing it first...? I know it's kind of pricey (I'm selling them for $50 on Etsy) but I'm willing to wait if you need time to gather funds. However, if you're content with being the conceptual mother, that's fine too. ^__^ So should I reserve it for you or let it go to another home?
I reallllly want it. I was actually telling someone how badly I wanted it but I may need a bit of time to gather funds.... If it is alright, can I see how much my paycheck will be? I will not know till the middle of next week though and so of course if you get an offer before then I understand if you need to sell him. He is definitely worth every cent.
Aww, well, I was hoping for you, and I'm still holding my breath for the announcement (especially about the art books) but still any job is pretty good at this time. I hope you enjoy working there? Three years is significant.
the stars are a wonderful detail, and very clean. great work!
you did a great job! they definitely read as stars, and if they are not 'straight' i can't tell!
way to 'one-up' those 'plain' spots!
