Teeka and Noobalee by FamiliarOddlings Teeka and Noobalee by FamiliarOddlings
Woohoo, finally I drew something worth putting up here! It's been a long while because I was focusing on getting the story done for the contest.

You can finally see Teeka! She's actually the main character to the Noobalee story. This is only the second time I've drawn her in a way that I find remotely acceptable. The first drawing is still lying around in my sketch pile (I haven't uploaded it yet). I'm hoping to color it and make it all nice before it comes up here. Anyway, I started drawing her just to relax while watching TV and then I decided to throw Noobalee in there. :D They're hardly ever apart.

After that initial TV sketching, I've been working on this in the hours between 12 and 2 in the am. o_O So I blame the odd expressions and composition on that.

All pencil, except a rushed clean-up in Photoshop.

Noobalee and Teeka are my original characters and (c) to me, Davina Behin Jones.

This awesome work, I love your characters, they are so cute! I love the composition also, the way that tekka pokes out the front in the forground really illustrates the point that she is the main character in the story. My favourite parts though would have to be the eyes, they have a disneyish quality to them, while staying true to your own style! great work!!!

Oh, I love pencil art. I so seldom get any in my inbox so seeing this was a treat. I love both of the characters. You do such a good job on humanlike and animalike features and that is extremely rare in an artist I notice. The little creature is so cool, I just adore that face, it is very unique. Now...I am somehow completely confused, which character is which? (I mean who's name goes to whom?) The shading on the little horns is beautiful, they look so touchable. I love the hair on the humanlike character too. Well done.:blackrose:

Oh, I guess I left that a little vague: Teeka is the human-like girl and Noobalee is the dragon-like creature thing (I call him a dragon but my mom refuses to accept the term. Maybe I'll come up with something better.)

Thank you so much! :D Sometimes I hate pencil, but lately it seems the only thing I can do. It is so gratifying to hear you say that about the features! :glomp: I love your comments!

i'd call noobalee a sort of sphinx or griffon, personally. :P they're both very huggable.
